Our Story
A small idea that began at home
Maikin began in a small apartment in the South of France. A simple idea, a shared love for stationery and a dream to build something of our own.
For Justine, she always had hobbies that revolved around stationery. She’s a crafter at heart and has always loved practical objects that bring her joy.
For Niels, he does calligraphy as a hobby but also saw the value of how journaling and scribbling ideas have brought positive impact in his daily life.
Maikin was born from the quiet joy of using thoughtful objects, and the hope that others might find the same fulfillment in them too.
Built carefully, step by step
From the beginning, we want Maikin to be more than a shop. We want to create a place shaped by the values we care about. Thoughtfulness, in each curation of our products; respect to everyone; creativity in the way we think and; attention to detail in the way we work.
We are drawn to objects that are simple yet meaningful; a well-made notebook, high quality paper, or a simple item that becomes part of someone’s routine. These objects can accompany work, reflection, imagination, planning, and personal expression.
Today, Maikin offers a carefully curated selection of stationery and everyday objects that we personally enjoy and hand-picked. Before adding products to the shop, we take the time to explore them, test them, and decide whether they meet the level of quality we want to stand behind.
Looking Ahead
This is only our first chapter.
Over time, we hope to design our own products too; objects shaped by the same attention to detail, creativity, and care that inspired Maikin from the start.
One idea especially close to us is collaborating with artists. Whether local or international, emerging or established, we would love to help bring creative work into everyday objects that people can use, keep, and enjoy.
As Maikin grows, we hope it can become more than a shop: a small community around thoughtful objects, creativity, and independent brands.
For now, we are grateful that you are here at the beginning.
Thank you for discovering Maikin.
